Port Botany

DustBloc

A large area in the centre of Port Botany, Sydney, required erosion control. Given the site's close proximity to the water, finding an effective and environmentally friendly solution was critical. Without proper treatment, loose dust and sediment can easily migrate from exposed surfaces into surrounding waterways, particularly in windy coastal conditions. This kind of runoff poses a serious threat to marine ecosystems, clouding the water, introducing contaminants that can harm the environment. For a location as ecologically sensitive as Port Botany, preventing this dust migration was a top priority.

DustBloc was chosen for the project thanks to its 0% hydrocarbon leaching, ensuring that no harmful chemicals would enter the soil or waterways during or after application. Although it was initially only required to hold the surface for one month, DustBloc performed well beyond expectations, remaining intact and untouched for nine months despite constant exposure to the elements.

Once DustBloc has dried and set in place, it cannot remix with water, binding the surface together like a protective crust that withstands rain, wind, weather, and salt spray. This long-lasting, non-toxic barrier not only controlled erosion effectively but also safeguarded the surrounding marine environment, making DustBloc the ideal choice for coastal and environmentally sensitive sites.
