BaseBind - DustBloc
Charters Towers, Conjuboy Road
BaseBind
This road posed a significant challenge for Charters Towers Regional Council, located 200 km from their base and requiring maintenance every three months. Corrugations would develop within a month of maintenance, prompting the council to use BaseBind.
Following application, mixed into the in-situ material at 1% by weight of the given area, the road was inspected every few months, with only minor loose areas reported on three sharp corners.
After 25 months, the council carried out a light grade of the surface and reapplied BaseBind, diluted with water at a rate of 0.1 litres per square metre to the open material before rolling.
This treatment reinvigorated the surface and reset the maintenance interval. Only a small crew was needed for this to be carried out.
No additional material was required, entire crews no longer needed to travel 200 km every 3 month's, local residents provided overwhelmingly positive feedback, and the local environment benefited from reduced contamination and disturbance.
The project stands as an outstanding demonstration of BaseBind's long-term performance, freeing up time, money, and resources to be directed toward areas in greater need of attention.
